Dinesh Jayavel

Photographer, Architect.

Dinesh is a seasoned Architectural Photographer whose work focuses on capturing and communicating the narratives behind the design, construction and habitation of buildings and places. Rooted in the idea that everything in our built environment tells a visual story his photography endeavours uncover the essential qualities of architecture and how the built space interacts with and emerges from its larger environment.

Dinesh combines his formal training in architectural design with his passion for visual art and photography, to bring to life the ideas and intents that embody the production of space. His professional work with designers and architects is complemented by extensive personal explorations that capture and document the interaction between architecture, the individual and the society. Timelessness and the poetic qualities of space are a recurring theme in Dinesh’s work.

Inspired to explore photography as a medium during his time at the School of Architecture and Planning, Chennai, Dinesh started out photographing buildings as part of the study and documentation process. Over the years, he has honed his skills and has acquired a keen eye for detail. His featured works can be seen on popular platforms such as Archdaily and Architizer.

Dinesh is currently based in Chennai, India.
